11/12/23 - Presentation And Mixamo

In today's first lesson, I was continuing the presentation for my app.

I was going through slide by slide, making basic notes on the pages for what I was going to say, and then in the notes sections, writing a more in-depth explanation about what I had done. I did this so that the viewers could only see so much, but that I would know what to talk about when describing each individual point, as only I would be able to see this. I also had to make sure that the layout of each page looked the same, so that everything was uniform and neat.

In today's second lesson, I was continuing to try and rig our model using Mixamo.

Over the week I had been trying multiple different model variations and rigging softwares to try and get our model to move. Coming into today's lesson, I only had one more idea for what might work, as everything else had come up with an error so far. We had decided as a group, that if this last idea didn't work, then we were going to just pose the model in a floating pose and animate it in an easier way within Unreal itself. This wouldn't have looked as good, but at least it would have meant we had something.

Luckily this last model that I tried, which had the ribs connect to the spine, rather than floating around it, worked, and Mixamo took to model to rig it. We decided as a group what types of animations we want it to have, although due to not knowing what file type to export it as, we are going to leave it until Wednesday's class to ask about this and finish exporting all of the animations.

I also looked over at what the others had done, and Jimmy over the last couple of days has created a really detailed and good-looking barn which Spike added into the map today, which is also looking really good, and he seems to think that we are almost finished, just needing to add in a few more details and changing the current cylinder to look like the monster. However, the barn model that Jimmy had created in Blender, and we didn't realise how big it was, as when it loaded into the game, it was the same size as the entire game board which we found quite funny, and Spike then had to re-size to make it fit much better into the level.
