26/01/23 - Premiere Green Screen Work

In today's lesson, we started working on Premiere Pro, to edit green screen footage.

We began the lesson, by discussing some of the questions we had answered on the questionnaire that we had to complete over the Christmas break. We talked about some of the questions and got taught as to why the answers were what they were, so we got to learn some more information about Luminance, how cameras work, and about different screen resolutions. We then had to move some files from the main hard drive, onto all of our own computers to work on later on in the lesson.

After this, we had to create a new document on Premiere Pro, making sure that all of the files that we downloaded earlier were in the new document. We then had to select all of the TIF Files, which included all of the green screen footage, and created a new sequence containing only these particular clips. We then had to scale down the size of all of these clips, so that they fit within the safe zones within the 1920x1080 screen size, and changed the duration of each clip to be 2 frames long, rather that 5 seconds, so that as a sequence the clips play nicer together. We then had to turn this sequence of clips into one continuous connected sequence, by selecting the Reveal Sequence In Project option. From here, we then copied in one of the original background clips that we opened the document with, placing it directly beneath the sequence that we had just created, and added an Ultra Key effect to the sequence, changing the Key colour to the eye dropped colour of the green screen, so that the green screen was replaced by the background image, although the person in the sequence could still be seen, as they were not the same colour as the green screen.

We then experimented a bit more with the Ultra Key effects, adding in multiple effects, to alter the loo of the floor, as well as trying to exactly cut out one scene of the person walking across the screen.
