Portfolio Site Research
1. Whose website is it and what sort of creative work is it presenting?
For my Portfolio site research, I chose to look into the work of Jack Sachs, as I personally found the look of his artwork and portfolio very interesting and different to other portfolios I had seen previously. The website shows off his different artwork style, such as his exhibition artwork, as well as his more animated artwork.
2. How would you describe the overall aesthetic / mood / tone of the website?
I would describe the overall aesthetic of his artwork as being very vibrant, colourful, and childish, as it has a very cartoon-style look to it, which gives it the childlike style, as well as the vast range of colours that are used. In contrast to this, the actual portfolio has a very plain look to it, as it is just a white background with a simple grey menu bar at the top, although the main logo at the top does fit in more with the style of the included artwork
3. What colour scheme does it have (how many repeated colours does it have and why might 3. they have been chosen)?
The artwork had a very wide ranged colour scheme, as many of the art pieces use more pastel colours, with an almost iridescent look to them, however not all of the images do, and some are much more toned down, using simple colours. However, all of the pieces are very vibrant with their usage of bright colours. The colour scheme of the main website, however, is very contrasting to this, as it has a very basic colour scheme of white and grey, with the exception of the logo at the top of each page.
4. How would you describe the layout of the information presented?
I would describe the layout of the information as very basic and easy to understand, as there is not a lot of extra unnecessary information around the artwork to get distracted by. The pieces of artwork, are also neatly laid out in straight lines which makes it easy to look at and understand each piece separately. This layout is helped by the simple menu bar above the artwork, as it is very easy to read, and is very clear and precise about what each page includes within it.
5. Who do you think the site is aimed at (who is the audience)? Is there an option for audience 5. feedback?
I believe that the target audience for this portfolio website, is most likely young adults. I think this, because although the artwork has quite a childish vibe about it, the layout of the site fells quite mature and professional, and the artwork does make you think about why it was created and if there are any deeper meanings to them, which sites aimed at children wouldn't necessarily do.
6.Overall, what do you like about it or not like?
Overall, I really like the style of the artwork that Jack Sachs produces, and I have found looking into him very interesting. I also like how the style of his artwork contrasts to the main look of the portfolio's website design, as it is very easy to look through and not get overwhelmed with information, even though there is quite a lot of images on each page.
